The National Association of Media Arts (NAMA) is a legal association that was officially registered under the Ministry of Community Development and Social Services, Culture department as a media arts association in 2001.  It is a media arts development body affiliated to the National Arts Council of Zambia (NACZ). The National Arts Council of Zambia is a statutory body established under Act No.31 of 1994 of the Laws of Zambia. It is the overall co-ordinating body of all arts activities in the country.

NAMA is a non-governmental and none profit-making indigenous Zambian Organization that was initiated in 1999 by Zambian media Artists to pursue focused vision of developing media arts in Zambia.

The main aim of NAMA is to facilitate the development of media arts through various ways that include capacity building, culture exchange and promote networking with other institution locally and Internationally. The organisation’s mission is to regulate and enhance policy formation in relation to the film industry.

NAMA’s objectives include developing the quality and technique of the media arts by facilitating skills training workshops, promotion of media arts in Zambia, enhance public awareness through Radio and Television drama productions, establish a Resource Centre to enhance promotion of the media arts, lobby and advocate for the policy and laws that shall enhance the development of media arts, monitor and regulate quality control in the media arts and facilitate any clearance of foreign media artists, production and projects.
